The Facts About American Oil

I would like to cover a few facts about Oil. No right or wrong here, just some information and thoughts for you to ponder.

Oil is a non-renewable energy source. There will come a day when it is all gone. This is not disputable. It might be 30 years or three hundred years from now. As a result we will have to change to some other form of energy if we plan to live as we do today.

As supplies of oil decrease and demand goes through the roof, prices will rise. It is conceivable that it will become more valuable than gold. Maybe we all should start collecting oil instead of precious metals. It could be a good investment.

Could it be possible that changing to a new source of energy before we run out could be our best bet. If we exhaust all of our domestic supplies, are other countries going to continue to sell oil to us when they face the very real threat of running out themselves?

If we no longer need it because of innovations that make it obsolete, perhaps we could stand to benefit by selling oil to the countries that still rely on it. Imagine that, the United States exporting oil instead of using it all. At least if this were the case, we would have choices. Today we do not have a choice because we use more oil than we could ever produce, even if we had an oil well on every street corner in America.

When oil reserves get very low, even the rich will be unable to afford to put gas into their cars and burn it up. How long will it be before gas reaches $10 a gallon? Will the day will come when $10 a gallon seems like a bargain, hopefully we are not putting it into our cars still when that day comes.

In the end, if we are not wise, we could end up being at the mercy of other countries. Remember even the great Roman Empire fell.
