Bush Again to Outsource National Security to Foreigners with Communist Ties

After Bush was forced to cancel the deal with Dubai Ports World to Run our ports some might think that he has learned a lesson, WRONG! Oh I forgot, in Bush's mind the company backed out of the deal, it's not that Americans rallied against him and defeated his dangerous plan.

Now the Bush administration is hiring a company from Hong Kong to detect and prevent nuclear materials inside cargo that is going through the Bahamas and then to the United States. I am sure that if you asked Bush he would say there is nothing to worry about because he is looking out for us and everything will be ok. I don't buy that line though. Bush does not have enough information about the running of this government to give me those assurances. Not after the ports deal anyways.

The Bush administration is issuing a no-bid contract to Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. This will be the first time ever that a foreign company will be running a U.S. radiation detector at a port overseas without a single American customs agent present. That's right, no one on the ground watching to be sure that we are in fact being protected. They say that there are sensors that would notify us if there was a positive response to a scan. So if a nuclear weapon just happened to get through, they could blame it on a sensor failure or a computer glitch. I do not trust the operators or the technology enough to not even have one U.S. official there to oversee the proper operation of the company. Is it too much of a burden to have one government employee there? Is our national security not worth just one employee's paycheck?

In 1999 U.S. intelligence drafted a secret report saying that Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. was a potential conduit for illegal technology transfers to communist countries or to facilitate the movement of arms and other prohibited items to America.

To top this off, Li Ka-Shing, the company chairman has substantial business ties to the communist government in China. There have been numerous instances in the past where this has concerned our government. Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. was blocked three years ago from purchasing part of then bankrupt Global Crossings Ltd. because of national security concerns. Yes you heard that right, Bush says they are not fit to operate telephone and data lines, but they can independently ensure that no one sneaks a nuclear bomb into our country in a cargo ship.
