Jesse Jackson supports Barry Bonds

People are throwing toy syringes out on the fields to show their dissatisfaction with Barry Bonds. This should be expected since he is on the verge of breaking the all-time home run record, with a little help from steroids. This behavior is nothing new. It is common for dissatisfied fans to throw a players home run ball back on the field. This has been happening since before I can remember.

This is different though. Rev. Jesse Jackson, famous for fighting for the underdog, is coming to Bonds rescue. Someone needs to tell Jackson that Barry is no underdog. The underdog in this case would be every player out there not taking illegal drugs to try to be better than everyone else.

Where was Jesse Jackson every other time someone throws something out on the field. A real baseball would be more dangerous than a toy syringe. Maybe we should just dissolve Major League Baseball as we know it, or put fences up around the whole field. You know, those banners people hold up during the game are sometimes mean. Maybe we should stop that as well.

I have a better idea. Hold Bonds accountable. He only has himself to blame for the treatment he gets. Maybe he should take some responsibility for his own actions. He could get out of harms way if he wanted to. All he would have to do is retire. Retiring would be the best for all parties. MLB could still hold a little bit of credibility in its fans eyes, Barry could rest his poor knees and Jesse Jackson could look for a deserving cause to fight for.

Or maybe I am all wrong. Maybe I am bitter because the game I loved as a child, and still do, is turning into a joke. The statistics that used to stand for something are just turning into a bunch of random numbers. This is sad because for so many players, these numbers represented a lifetime of achievement. America's favorite pastime is being ruined just like everything else American that I used to hold dear to me. No! I'm not bitter. I'm mad as hell!
