Dubai Ports World and Bush Administration: Secrets Revealed
I has just been disclosed that the Bush administration and Dubai Ports World made secret deal in the purchase of six major U.S. ports. It appears that this was supposed to help ensure the safety of our country, but that may not be the case.
Dubai Ports World is supposed to agree to cooperate with the U.S. if we have any future investigations that we feel they may be able help assist in. They also agreed to release documents concerning maintainance, design and operation of its U.S. ports.
Now here is what the U.S. did NOT do in this secret deal:
Never fear! Congress is here....
The Senate Majority Leader, Sen. Frist(R), says he will introduce legislation to hold up the sale of the ports if Bush fails to do so himself. This will allow the Senate to look a little closer into this transaction and hopefully make the conditions of this sale a little safer for America. This sale will go through though, mark my words on this one. You have a Bush in the White House and his family ties with Arabs are too strong to let the Senate get in the way. Why else would Bush threaten to veto any legislation passed that would interfere with the sale. Think about it. Bush is a "rubber-stamp" president. He has been in office for 6 years and he has yet to veto one bill sent to him to sign. He even signed off on legislation responsible for the largest Government expansion in U.S. history, and he advocats small government.
Will this end up being the straw that broke the republicans back?

Now here is what the U.S. did NOT do in this secret deal:
- require Dubai Ports to keep copies of business records on U.S. soil, where they would be subject to all U.S. court orders
- require the Dubai Ports World to designate an American citizen to accommodate U.S. government requests
- require that Dubia Ports World FULLY cooperate with Homeland Security requests
