Arabs to take over U.S. Ports
President Bush has threatened to Veto any legislation passed by Congress to review this takeover or to ensure that our national security is not being put at risk.
At the end of the day it might be a sound decision, but what's the harm in taking a closer look when it comes to the security of our country. What is wrong is that Bush said it is OK so therefore it must be. I do find myself being a little curious as to why until a few days ago Bush had no idea that an Arab country was going to be taking over six major U.S. ports and two military ports. Sounds like he had been left out of the loop.
Arabs will be in charge of putting into place necessary security procedures to keep us safe. I would like to make it perfectly clear that I am not a racist, I am only concerned about our safety. George W. Bush's stance on the issue is that if congress tries to investigate or review this before it happens, he will veto their efforts. It is worth noting that Bush has never veto'd any legislation that has been placed before him. Not even bloated budgets that are responsible for some of the largest expansion of government in the U.S. history.
I for one, can't understand why he does not want Congress to reveiw this matter. Is someone hiding something? maybe this is being rubber-stamped as a political favor. If it is as safe as he says, let Congress investigate and then Bush can say I told you so. Maybe he is afraid someone might dig a little deeper and find out why it is worth the first veto this president might issue.
At the very least, this does nothing to help the U.S. become less dependent on Arab countries. Make up your mind George W. Bush and stop flip-flopping.
