Tom Delay - delay

You cannot get a new judge because he contributed to politics. This is not feasible. This would set precedent for getting a judge that might be leaning a little more towards your agenda. It will not happen. Here is a good article.

If you ask for a new judge you need to have your facts straight. The defense says that "MoveOn" is slanted in this case and selling merchandise that is "anti-Delay" and since Judge Perkins contributed to their cause almost a year ago, that Perkins should not hear the case. The question I have is simple. Did the Defense tell the truth? You cannot ask for a new Judge because he contributed to a political cause. If the Anti-Delay t-shirt issue is valid, then you may have a point that could potentially be understandable. According to "MoveOn" they are not selling the merchandise that they were accused of selling. I searched their website and I couldn't find anything for sale, but it only takes a couple minutes to remove a page from a website. MoveOn does bring up an interesting point. If the Defense lied about this issue in an attempt to convince the Judge, maybe this should be looked into further. The last thing we need is liars in court. We need this to be a clean legal battle. If the lawyers aren't honest, who will be? Tom Delay says that he is innocent and he may be. If his lawyers are caught lying on the first day, who is going to believe what they say next. If his lawyers are not being truthful, they are doing him a disservice.

I can see asking for a change of venue. This is completely valid for anyone. We all should have this right. The only issue I have is whether there is a real need to move the trial in this case. I do not see how the news media coverage could be that much different in another county. This has gained local and national coverage for a long time. I would be very careful in allowing a change in venue because the coverage of this case and surrounding issues has had very broad coverage and virtually everyone should at least be aware of the case.
